In the 2009 NFC championship game against the Minnesota Vikings, Pierre Thomas carried the ball 14 times for 61 yards along with two catches for 38 yards and two touchdowns – a 38 yard reception on a screen pass and a nine yard run from scrimmage. He was a key factor in the game-winning field goal drive in overtime. Thomas set up the drive with a 40 yard kickoff return followed by converting on a key fourth-and-one with a “Walter Paytonesque” leap over the top for 2 yards. He was a member of the Saints and scored his first ever Super Bowl touchdown and the Saints first lead en route to a Super Bowl XLIV Championship.
