Mickey Mantle Autographed Memorabilia

No baseball memorabilia collection is complete without a piece of Mickey Mantle autographed memorabilia

Mickey Mantle was one of the few athletes that transcended his sport to become one of the most well known figures in popular culture.  Mantle was known as much for his partying as he was for his prowess on the baseball diamond.  In a city full of stars, his star shined just as bright as anyone else’s.  Playing for a franchise that produced many of baseball’s all time greats, he added to Yankee lore by becoming yet another hall of famer to wear the famed pinstripes.   That Hall of Fame career helped produce some of the most valuable memorabilia in the world.  Mickey Mantle autographed baseballs and Mickey Mantle autographed photos are sought after pieces of collectable memorabilia by every collector, serious or amateur.

Mickey Mantle’s journey to New York City and eventually Cooperstown began in Spavinaw, Oklahoma in 1931.  The son of a lead miner, it was rumored that he was named for Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane.   No one could have known that years later, Mantle would put together is own Hall of Fame career.   In high school, he excelled at football and basketball.  But he really loved baseball.  After graduating from high school, he signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees and the rest as they say was history.

Mantle excelled at the plate but struggled in the field.  His play at shortstop was less than awe inspiring.  When he was brought up to the Yankee’s instructional camp in 1951 he was switched to the outfield.  That move was the best thing that could have happened to him.   Although he struggled at times, many knew that he had the raw talent to be one of the game’s greats.  When he finally was called up to the Majors he took over centerfield from another Yankee great, Joe DiMaggio.   He would stay in centerfield for another 15 years and put up numbers that still are regarded as some of baseball’s best.   He won the Triple Crown in 1956; he appeared in the All Star game 20 times.  He won 7 World Series championships. He still holds records that probably will never be broken.  Records like 18 home runs in the World Series.  Or his record for the most walk off home runs (13).  Mantle’s achievements make his memorabilia the focus of many a collector’s attention.

Mickey Mantle’s records and the fact that he played for one of baseball’s most storied franchises, make any item that he autographed a prized piece of any memorabilia collection.  The market for Mickey Mantle Memorabilia is extra competitive when you realize that there aren’t many items bearing his autograph.  When collectors hear that a Mickey Mantle autographed photo or a Mickey Mantle autographed baseball is available, they rush to acquire it. Why wouldn’t they? It isn’t often that one has the honor and privilege to possess an item signed by the greatest switch hitter in the history of the game.  Or maybe a collector can acquire a Mickey Mantle autographed photo that captures “the Mick” in his prime.   These are opportunities that no true collector can let pass by.
