In 1956, John David Crow was part of the first Aggie football team to beat the University of Texas at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Crow was named a scholastic All-American and won the Heisman on December 3, 1957, defeating Iowa tackle Alex Karras. As of 2010, he is the only Aggie to win the Heisman.
